Sphynx Electrology ยท Chicago, Illinois

A little unusual. Very serious about your care.

Hi, I'm Kairi.

Key information

  • I'm a co-founder of Sphynx Electrology, a cosmetology professional, and the person you'll meet on the treatment side of our practice.
  • I'm also genderqueer, demifemme, heavily tattooed, and happily accustomed to being a little different.
  • My wife and I have been together since 2006. Over those years, our family's experiences helped me understand just how personal something like hair removal can become.
  • For some people, it's about appearance. For others, comfort, identity, convenience, or simply wanting one less thing to think about every morning.
  • I don't believe anyone should have to justify why they want permanent hair removal.
  • And I certainly don't think you should have to change who you are to feel welcome in a treatment room.
  • Before pursuing electrology, I built years of experience in cosmetology. Working with skin, hair, and people taught me that technical skill matters, but so does understanding the person sitting in front of you.
  • Electrology appealed to me because it's precise, demanding work with a genuinely permanent goal: treating the individual follicles responsible for unwanted hair.
  • I completed 600 hours of electrology training in September 2026 and passed my IBEC examination. My cosmetology background gives me another perspective on hair and skin, but I recognize that temporary hair removal and permanent follicle treatment are different disciplines.
  • Both deserve to be understood and used appropriately.
  • I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. Lots of questions.
  • I will explain what I'm doing, discuss what treatment can realistically accomplish, and work with you to develop a plan suited to your goals.
  • I won't promise that every hair will disappear in a particular number of appointments. Hair growth is complicated. Treatment takes patience, consistency, and honest communication.
  • Your comfort, privacy, boundaries, and ability to speak up matter to me. If something needs to be explained differently, or you need a break, you can tell me.
  • You don't have to impress me. You don't need to look a particular way. You just need to show up as yourself.
  • Sphynx isn't intended to be a high-volume, revolving-door treatment business.
  • We're building it around private appointments, careful work, responsible infection-prevention procedures, and enough time to give each client our attention.
  • Yes, there will be strange artwork. Yes, I love an unconventional aesthetic. And yes, I take the actual work very seriously.
  • Those things can coexist.
  • Kayla is my wife, my business partner, and the person building much of the infrastructure behind Sphynx.
  • She brings approximately 25 years of professional experience in distribution, finance, and analytics to a business that needs considerably more than an epilator and a treatment table to run responsibly.
  • While I'm focused on the work happening in the treatment room, Kayla concentrates on financial controls, administrative systems, vendor relationships, compliance coordination, and the longer-term stability of the practice.
  • We're equal owners of Hairless Cat Enterprise LLC, the company operating Sphynx Electrology.
  • It's a partnership built on complementary skills, a shared history, and the conviction that a small independent practice can be both wonderfully unconventional and exceptionally well organized.
  • You deserve respectful treatment, regardless of your gender, background, presentation, or reason for seeking electrolysis.
  • We believe in explaining the process, acknowledging limitations, and avoiding promises that sound wonderful but cannot responsibly be guaranteed.
  • They should influence appointment scheduling, communication, record handling, sanitation, and the way clients are treated.
  • We'll discuss your goals, answer your questions, and talk about what treatment might look like for you. When clinically appropriate, we may also include a short test treatment.
  • There's no need to have everything figured out before you arrive.
